Welcome to an Oasis Day Worship Experience with Oasis Church

I bet you’re ready to hit the road! This worship experience will be tons of fun! Just keep coming back and reading the instructions between video clips and you’ll receive clues and ideas to help this time of worship be engaging, fun and a memory-maker!

ALSO, take some pictures along the way today!

• This is one way God can use us to bring oasis into our communities!

One more bit of housekeeping, for the instructions today:

• If you’re in the Cedar Rapids area (“CR”) 
• If you’re in another community (“Outside CR”)
• Everyone - Make sure you read everything else!

OK! Let’s get started! Hopefully you heard those directions! 

CR: If you can, go to Thomas Park in Marion (near Blairsferry and First Avenue) and find an area where you can see the stream!

Outside CR: Find a place with a body of water, like a stream, river, or lake. 

If you can, grab your water bottle/water and go stand by that water and watch the next video! 

(Don’t drop your phone though! :) - (Read in a serious voice: the creators of these videos are not responsible for the loss, injury or dunking of any electronic devices :))

Now before you get in your car . . .

First, take a big drink of water! Then talk about the question below.

Talk about / Reflect: 

• What are some foods you love and don’t love so much?
• As a group or individually, thank God for something you are thankful for! 
• Worship God by saying thank you to Him.

Now, find a path or a trail! :) (maybe you’re already on one!)

Now watch this video:

Quietly pause, in silence:

• Think about a time when the path of your life went differently than you would have hoped. 
• Thank Him for how He has shown up and led in the midst of the unknown and unexpected.

Ready for this worship experience to take an unexpected turn? 

Go and find a cemetery - particularly one that has lots of headstones / tombstones.

CR:  If you’re at Thomas Park right now, Jody recommends Oak Shade Cemetery (789 2nd Ave, Marion, Iowa) - (it’s super close by) or Shiloh Cemetery (2047 Blairs Ferry Road, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402). FYI: Cedar Memorial does *not* have any headstones that stand above ground level.

Outside CR: Go and find a cemetery - particularly one that has lots of headstones / tombstones.

Be prepared for how a cemetery is a quiet and somber place . . . but it’s a place that also proclaims hope!

After arriving at the cemetery, watch this:

To Do:

• Walk around this special place and read what’s written on tombstones
• Look for signs of life among the places that show evidence of the reality of death.
• Find encouragement that others who have gone before us have trusted the Good Shepherd, Jesus.
• Use this as an exercise to put your trust in the Good Shepherd in the realities of your life.
• Go on a scavenger hunt to find evidence of the Good Shepherd and then share with one another what you’ve found.

Then listen to this song, “Raise a Hallelujah” and think about how, even in the midst of the reality of death, we can praise God for His ultimate victory over death and the grave!

CR: Does the address, 1635 Linmar Dr NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402 sound familiar? If not, drive there. :) If so, drive there before you watch the next video!

Outside CR: If you’re close to your house, I would encourage you to drive to your home and park in the street. From there, watch the next video.

Now that you’ve arrived at this safe place - this place that God has provided!

Pick one or more of these questions / items and talk about it!

1. Think about the ways that God has prepared good things for you.
2. Brainstorm qualities of God, as a Good Shepherd.
3. What are things you like about God?
4. What are some attributes of God that you love? 
5. Praise Him for His great qualities - and fun with that!

We’re coming toward the end of this worship experience, but there’s some exciting things left.

CR: Please go and find a doctors office, urgent care or hospital! If heading toward the hospital, I recommend going to the top of one of the parking ramps . . . it’s a powerful view!

Outside CR: Go to a place that serves sweets - perhaps ice cream, candy bars, desserts, donuts :) . . . or perhaps if you’re in the mood for a healthier sweet treat, find a spot that’s great for you too!

The free donut from Oasis Church is now over, unfortunately.  But the donuts are awesome and we highly recommend you stop inside and buy a few.
